The Bridge is a brilliant mix of classic Motown-flavored Adult-Contemporary/Adult Alternative pop with a hopeful message for the human race. With hits of blazing horn sections and shimmering strings, this album is full of finely-crafted, intelligent and soul-stirring songs from a truly authentic voice.
Co-produced by Patrick Conway and Kit Holmes and recorded at the renown Blue Rock Artist Ranch & Studio in Wimberley, Texas, The Bridge features some of Austin, Texas’ finest musicians. Sam Pankey (bass) and Wayne Salzmann II (drums) put a solid foundation under Chris “Rusty” Gebhard’s playful lead guitar and Kit’s masterful piano & keys. Tosca String Quartet and cellist Dirje Childs add ethereal shine to several tracks, including a haunting cover of The Beatles’ Tomorrow Never Knows and Kit’s old-school, R&B ballad Turn It Over. The horn section sets fire to Gettin’ Up Early, Everyday Grateful, On & On and The Bridge. The extraordinary Warren Hood rockets the fiddle on the turn-up-the-radio, roll-down-the-windows One Long Road which was nominated for a 2018 RoundGlass Music Award as Best American Roots Song.
Grammy-nominated Eliza Gilkyson names Here to Be “…a modern-day, secular hymn everyone should be singing,” while CMA-winning and Grammy-nominated Gretchen Peters calls it “…one of those songs I’d wish I’d written…”
The uplift of this album is contagious. It grooves. It tugs at the soul. And with top-notch production and Kit’s powerfully smooth voice, The Bridge is an exceptional album from an exceptional talent who is well on her way to getting the attention she deserves.
